The Dirty Picture Wave

Vidya Balan sure bacame a fantasy for may with the airing of the song " Oh la la oh la la tu hai mare fantasy"
She turned out to be a visual treat for the sore eyes we must say! What a sight Vidya Balan is in her new avatar.
Whenever we imagine Vidya Balan , we think of a Sabyasachi saree on her and man she asked us to pause and rethink about her .....Portraying the bold character of Silk Smitha . The movie is a biographic film based on the life of yesteryear actress Silk Smitha. No wonder, Vidya Balan exposes herself in the role of a dream artist of the south- exactly what Silk Smitha did in her real life . Vidya has never exposed as much but people will see her doing a lot of skin – show for “the Dirty Picture”

Red blouse, red lipstick complete Vidya Balan’s ‘Dirty Picture’ look.  She will be seen in a Retro look for this movie flaunting deep neckline blouse, sarees, hot pants, skirts etc.

Vidya who is looking hot and sizzling in her skimpy retro clothes. It has left us imagining what are we going to see when the movie is released.

Apart from Vidya , Emraan Hashmi(the serial kisser), Naseeruddin Shah & Tushar Kapoor are also casted in the movie, but Vidya takes the limelight in her bold avatar.

The red hot saree has already become the talk of the town and the latest trend this season !

Everything red looks awesome to me ever since I have seen the promos of The Dirty Picture , be it red lips, red saree or anything RED ! Also retro trends are on my mind !!

I think the whole nation is waiting eagerly for 2nd December to see more of Vidya's new look !
The Dirty picture itself is one of the most anticipated movie of the year and the flirtatious looks of Vidya makes it even more interesting to wait for.

5 Must-Have Lipstick Shades for Fall

You put on a kick-ass mini-dress, killer heels and an elegant clutch or a glamorous saree with
strapless blouse, but it still doesn’t seem enough? Well, what takes a look from being good-
enough to too-good? A perfectly complementary make-up of course. The perfect lipstick is the
one that not only complements your outfit but also brightens up your face and brings out your
best features. These are some of the shades that you should totally rock this Fall:

(Keep in mind that all the recommendations here are suited to Indian skintones )

1. Red

Think Dita Von Teese, the epitome of old-world glamour. Almost anyone can rock a red lipstick,
provided it is their perfect red. Those with cool undertones should go for blue-based reds
whereas those with warm undertones should opt for orange-based ones. A well-shaped wide
brow paired with minimal eye make-up and loads of mascara would be the best way to rock red.
You don’t want red to overwhelm the rest of your face, but at the same time you do not wanna
look OTT.

Some recommendations which might be your perfect red:

2. Brown

Those who think brown is boring should reconsider their taste, because this Fall brown lips
are huge. They were very popular back in the 90s and have come into fashion back now.
The runways for NY Fall 2011 were full of brown-lipped, long-legged models. Blue-toned
browns are more flattering irrespective of your skin undertones. Warm browns—like orange or
brick tinted ones—look beautiful on some girls, but if you don’t have white teeth they can be
detrimental to your smile. Pair it with a copper-y blush and you’re good-to-go.

3. Berry

Scared of Bright reds? Then berry is your color. More versatile than reds, it won’t look garish or
clashing, irrespective of your skin-tone. Berry is the perfect shade for fall and winter when you
want to look dramatic and dressed-up. When wearing a bright lip color, go easy on your eyes and
cheeks so the focus stays on your mouth and don’t ever overdo the blush.

4. Orange

The easiest way to spice up a gloomy winter day is to wear orange on your lips. Orange is HOT
this season. The runways are filled with this color and the world is being bathed in its beauty.
Matte lips can be tricky if you've never tried the look before, so start out with sheer shades and
glosses, and work your way up. Keep your eye makeup neutral so as not to look like a crazy
clown lady.

5. Pale Pink

If you’re scared of going too dark, there’s another option. Light, almost cotton-candy colored
lips. Pink which still stands out and makes a statement. It’s almost like nude, but with a twist,
so there is no way it can wash you out. The best part is that with pale pink lips, you can have as
much fun with the rest of your makeup as you want. Wanna go for vibrant colored eyeshadows?
Go for it, because pale pink will complement almost every color. Make sure you apply quite a lot
of blush so that your face maintains its contours.

A Cinderalla Tale With A Twist....

I'm sure you have all heard about the story of Cinderalla. You know the beautiful girl with the two mean step sisters and the wicked step- mother.Well you already know the ending , the beautiful girl marries the handsome prince, and they live happily ever after.Well that was a fairy tale....

I thought of doing Cinderalla tale with a twist...

The Cinderalla , was always made to do the household job , there was no excitement & fun in her life, all she could think of was work , work and work !!!

Then one day a angel came to do a makeover of Cinderalla and to give her a chance to meet her charming prince....

This is what the angel got for her.....

The angel got her a shimmer dress, vintage look topaz earrings, glitter wedge heels and makeup stuff.

Cinderalla was so happy to see everything and then she got ready to meet her prince.....

Cinderalla when to the party and met her prince , but in a hurry to rush back home forgot her glitter footwear  there, the prince started looking for Cinderalla with one footwear she left at the party and finally found her. They got married and lived happily ever after .......

Hope you guys like the twist I gave to the classic Cinderalla tale :)

Nalli-fied experince !!

I went to Nalli a few days back , so thought of taking store pix and writing about them.
Nalli is one of my favorite store for traditional weaves, I visit the store quite frequently especially when need to update my tradional wear wardrobe.

Nalli has three stores in Delhi situated in CP, South Extn and Gk-II. I mostly visit their Gk-II store as its close by from where I stay and love their service :) Since this is a recent store in Gk-II so its mostly not crowded, so I get a fair chance to explore all options in the story.

Nalli is a multi storey store where they have sections divided on each floor. If you are a traditional weaves lover than this is a must visit store for you. Here you can find all sorts of silk blend running fabrics, sarees , suit pieces , ready-made suits and bags.

Nalli offers wide range of silk sarees that includes Banaras silk, Kanjivaram etc.

Inside view -

Some images of cotton fabrics-

Now this is one of my favourite section , here you can find cut pcs at discounted price.

On the right side you can see there are some pics in different fabrics , I am very fond of this section because I anyways don't like picking the same fabrics for one suit , so from this section I can mix and match and make the best possible combinations :)

The man posing near the counter is my favorite SA , he totally understands what I am looking for :)

Nalli has all range of fabrics , so can fit in eveyone's budget.

Also they have branches in other cities.

Black & White Look

What does Black & White remind you ??
I think it reminds me of old B&W television, newspaper, lawyers, prisoners ,classic b&w movies and periodic pictures..May be a couple of more things .....

I thought of doing a b&w look, I consider it as one of the strongest combination.

Details about the outfit-
Black chantelly dress worn as tunic , White cardigan and black tights with zig zag detailing.
Rosette kitten heels peep toe.

I love adding a pop of colors to wore turquoise necklace and earrings.
I kept make up minimal & opted a peachy lipstick :)

Mix & Match Creation

If you would have read the previous post about the Govindpuri trip , you would know I went there for a purpose....
It was my mumma's bday last week , I thought of gifting her a traditional suit :)
I generally like to mix things , its so much of fun and innovative :)

This is what I created for my mumma :)
Details about the outfit
Kurta- Front in Chandari Silk and back in Cotton Silk with contrast tapes on the sleeves.
Paisley Panel inserted in the center with conrast pipings in fuschia & teal.
Pajami-Fuschia cotton silk
Dupatta-Net with brocade fabric used as tapes in fuschia & teal. Backing of the dupatta is done with fuschia fabric.

I give a lot of focus on detailing of the garment and think a lot before deciding the final look.

A close up image of the panel .

I loved this panel the moment I saw it and cordinated the rest of the fabrics with it :)
Since the paisley had a very royal look , so wanted to keep a balanced look , so teamed it with chandari silk base in natural color.

Sleeve closeup

The sleeves is in off-white , to not make it look very off from the outfit I decided to add contrast trims.

Close up of the dupatta

I took a net dupatta in teal and added contrast brocade tapes, also backed it with fuschia fabric to match with the pajami.

Now the question is will my mumma like it ?
When I showed her the suit she totally loved it !!
I asked mumma to pose for the blog as I designed this suit keeping in mind her taste :)
Also I wanted to see how the outfit looks on her :)

Hope you guys liked my creation :)
