5 Must-Have Lipstick Shades for Fall

You put on a kick-ass mini-dress, killer heels and an elegant clutch or a glamorous saree with
strapless blouse, but it still doesn’t seem enough? Well, what takes a look from being good-
enough to too-good? A perfectly complementary make-up of course. The perfect lipstick is the
one that not only complements your outfit but also brightens up your face and brings out your
best features. These are some of the shades that you should totally rock this Fall:

(Keep in mind that all the recommendations here are suited to Indian skintones )

1. Red

Think Dita Von Teese, the epitome of old-world glamour. Almost anyone can rock a red lipstick,
provided it is their perfect red. Those with cool undertones should go for blue-based reds
whereas those with warm undertones should opt for orange-based ones. A well-shaped wide
brow paired with minimal eye make-up and loads of mascara would be the best way to rock red.
You don’t want red to overwhelm the rest of your face, but at the same time you do not wanna
look OTT.

Some recommendations which might be your perfect red:

2. Brown

Those who think brown is boring should reconsider their taste, because this Fall brown lips
are huge. They were very popular back in the 90s and have come into fashion back now.
The runways for NY Fall 2011 were full of brown-lipped, long-legged models. Blue-toned
browns are more flattering irrespective of your skin undertones. Warm browns—like orange or
brick tinted ones—look beautiful on some girls, but if you don’t have white teeth they can be
detrimental to your smile. Pair it with a copper-y blush and you’re good-to-go.

3. Berry

Scared of Bright reds? Then berry is your color. More versatile than reds, it won’t look garish or
clashing, irrespective of your skin-tone. Berry is the perfect shade for fall and winter when you
want to look dramatic and dressed-up. When wearing a bright lip color, go easy on your eyes and
cheeks so the focus stays on your mouth and don’t ever overdo the blush.

4. Orange

The easiest way to spice up a gloomy winter day is to wear orange on your lips. Orange is HOT
this season. The runways are filled with this color and the world is being bathed in its beauty.
Matte lips can be tricky if you've never tried the look before, so start out with sheer shades and
glosses, and work your way up. Keep your eye makeup neutral so as not to look like a crazy
clown lady.

5. Pale Pink

If you’re scared of going too dark, there’s another option. Light, almost cotton-candy colored
lips. Pink which still stands out and makes a statement. It’s almost like nude, but with a twist,
so there is no way it can wash you out. The best part is that with pale pink lips, you can have as
much fun with the rest of your makeup as you want. Wanna go for vibrant colored eyeshadows?
Go for it, because pale pink will complement almost every color. Make sure you apply quite a lot
of blush so that your face maintains its contours.
