Birthday Present for My Dearest Sister !

Wishing my darling sister from another mother Daman a very happy birthday. She is a sweetheart & I feel blessed to have her by my side. If I have to seek any advice or need a partner in crime(read shopping).... she is always there for me :)

Daman trust me for her traditional outfits , so I thought of designing a suit for her as a b'day present :)
Knowing her taste , I thought I will design a outfit which has a mix of colors but should not look over the top as her style is sober & elegent. So this is what I designed for her.

Beige cotton silk suit with narrow fit salwar and multi brocade horizontal panels.
Since the kurta and salwar already had a lot of colors so I decided to keep the dupatta simple with dull gold facing.

You must be thinking , this outfit looks tiny .. Let me tell you our Damandeep Kaur is very skinny and I think she is size double zero ...hahahhaaa...

The people I love , I generally try to get/design similar things for them. Daman & I strong bond of love & sisterhood. So this is not be suprizing for you to know that I am also designing a similar outfit for myself.. It will give us a sense of connectivity :) .. Yeah I know , you must be thinking is this woman crazy , similar outfits ?? But thats love ...and a feeling of being closer to each other !

We are just back from Daman's midnight b'day celebration & let me tell you she liked the outfit ...Yay!!!

A close up look at the brocade panels.

Hope you guys liked the outfit I created for my dearest sister :)

Floral fantasy.....

My friend got married recently and would be moving to States after marriage , so I was a bit confused that would be a perfect wedding gift for ?
Some options that came in my mind.....
1- Cosmetics - No , she is moving to US , where she can get better choices ...
2- Traditional outfit- No, she will hardly get the opportunity to wear it & might end up paying extra baggage at the airport.
3-Jewellery- No, not too sure about her taste ....
4-Clutch- No, doesn't excite that much....
5-Footwear-Sorry I don't know her size and preferences :(

And the list goes on & on......
Then finally I decided to design a stole for her ...................

A wedding is the the most important affair in a girl's life , she will be stepping in a new life with her life-partner and inlaws.

When I was designing the stole her whole personality revolved around my mind and I wanted to reflect that in my creation.
Kiki aka Kritika is a a lovely girl , always vibrant & happy :)

This is what I finally designed for her......

This is a hot pink satin pouch with Kiki written on it :)
I must tell you guy the moment I handed over the pouch to her she was so excited to see her name written on it :)

Now what was inside the pouch.....

This is a net stole with satin facing and multi color flowers on top.

It was for the first time I had proper South Indian meal & I was so excited .........

Wishing Kiki a very happy married life and will miss her a lot ....

Hope you guys liked my creation :)

Mix & Match Creation

If you would have read the previous post about the Govindpuri trip , you would know I went there for a purpose....
It was my mumma's bday last week , I thought of gifting her a traditional suit :)
I generally like to mix things , its so much of fun and innovative :)

This is what I created for my mumma :)
Details about the outfit
Kurta- Front in Chandari Silk and back in Cotton Silk with contrast tapes on the sleeves.
Paisley Panel inserted in the center with conrast pipings in fuschia & teal.
Pajami-Fuschia cotton silk
Dupatta-Net with brocade fabric used as tapes in fuschia & teal. Backing of the dupatta is done with fuschia fabric.

I give a lot of focus on detailing of the garment and think a lot before deciding the final look.

A close up image of the panel .

I loved this panel the moment I saw it and cordinated the rest of the fabrics with it :)
Since the paisley had a very royal look , so wanted to keep a balanced look , so teamed it with chandari silk base in natural color.

Sleeve closeup

The sleeves is in off-white , to not make it look very off from the outfit I decided to add contrast trims.

Close up of the dupatta

I took a net dupatta in teal and added contrast brocade tapes, also backed it with fuschia fabric to match with the pajami.

Now the question is will my mumma like it ?
When I showed her the suit she totally loved it !!
I asked mumma to pose for the blog as I designed this suit keeping in mind her taste :)
Also I wanted to see how the outfit looks on her :)

Hope you guys liked my creation :)
